About

Inspired by the beauty of existence, all aspects of the journey dark and light, and bounding universal potential, her art is visionary. She is a life long artist from Lexington, Kentucky. Some of her accomplishments include traveling for henna events, teaching henna workshops, winning costume contests, Dragon Master in Amptguard, a successful Etsy shop, working with PlayThink festival, and mostly the proud mother of Olivia Esme Sage.

Melissa has recently condensed her artsy loves to one location, Sublime Conception. A new manifestation of art.

Formerly Volcano Henna, established in 1999.  Melissa has been providing services for events, parties, bridal mehindi, private appointments, fundraising events, library programs, drum heads, silk, leather and, tattoo design. Aside from the technical aspects of applying henna paste, there is a healing and wellness aspect. Applying and receiving henna is a meditation for both parties.

Her hopes for the future as an artist is to continue doing henna, costuming, tattoo design, and several ideas yet to be done.  Leather work has taken her heart at the moment shortly followed by woodturning.  Recently she has found a new love for working with wool doing needle felting, polymer clay sculpting, and hand embroidery.  Hopefully mural work in her artists styling for her community and abroad is in her future. No limits.
